[2352] The name Catherine depends on the identification of William Chesnut (d. 1783) as the son of William Chesnut of Bucks Co., PA (d. 1754/55). When the younger William of Bucks sold his land in 1759 (our William bought land in VA in 1762), a deed or rather later mortgage on the sale referred to William and Catherine Chesnut, laborer, of Plumstead TWP. The first wife of William Chesnut (d. 1783) was the mother of the first two sons, including our ancestor William.
