[2] Date on tombstone, and in many other family records, is 1868. But this conflicts with birth of his next brother in early 1869, and his father, J. H. Dunn, in Civil War pension records, clearly listed Jesse Louis' birth as 1867. Early censuses tend to reflect this as well. He may have added a year, inadvertantly or otherwise, sometime after 1900.
